Geronimo Stilton by Scholastic

Dearest Mummies,

I would like to share with you this book that I've just completed with boy R (who is presently 5 yrs old), titled The Mummy with No Name from Geronimo Stilton series. I spotted this book and picked it up on a whim, not knowing if my boy R will like it or not. Surprisingly, he does. It also provides additional knowledge on ancient egypt, the sphinx, hieroglyphics.......

Editorial Reviews
Halloween and Egypt and mummies . . . oh, my! I admit it, I am a 'fraidy mouse. Halloween scares me out of my fur! But this Halloween, I was heading off on an adventure in one of my very favorite places: Egypt. I couldn't wait to see the sights and soak up some sun far away from New Mouse City. What I didn't realize was that Halloween is popular in Egypt, too -- with the mummies, that is! Oh, what's a 'fraidy mouse to do?

About the Geronimo....
Geronimo Stilton
books are actually written by an Italian author, Elisabetta Dami who uses Geronimo Stilton, the main character, as a pen name. The title character has made this series very popular, both in the U.S. and overseas, and these books have actually been translated into 35 different languages. The cool thing about the Geronimo Stilton series, for many children, is that the books are written in an autobiographical style, allowing kids to get right into the characters and feel like the story is really happening and that Geronimo and his adventures are actually real.

There is not a lot of information available about the actual writer of the books, other than the name and the fact that the books are for those in the 9-12 age range. Girls are generally the intended subjects of these particular books, but they are written in a gender-neutral tone. The books are actually written from the perspective of Geronimo Stilton, who is a mouse writer working as a writer and editor for the Rodent’s Gazette, and lives on a fictitious island called Mouse Island, and the capital city of New Mouse City is where Geronimo was born and raised.

Cheers,
